I've been creating 3 dimensional art since I was in elementary school , with a particular fondness for dioramas . When I began collecting 1:6 scale action figures I found that creating unique display bases for them is as much fun as doing traditional illustrations - a way for me to combine my love of illustration and sculpture . I created this sci fi inspired display base for a friend who manufactures 1:6 action figures . Due to my full time job I was not able to work on it with any regularity but the construction of it spanned a period of six months . I think I likely used every technique I've learned in my 30 years of creating art within this piece .
Nice idea and build. Makes a great Tatooine entry portal !
Dude, that is sweet! Great use of "at hand" materials! Most impressive...
Thanks , although " collecting " trash that " I might NEED , someday " has its downside . heh .
Loks nice, What is made off ?
Styrofoam, plaster gauze, polymer clay, basswood, model kit parts, printer cartridge trays, telecoping lamp rods - pretty much whatever I could find that was not bolted down .One man's trash is another man's treasure . Come to think of it - this entire display base is made from trash .
